My foundation is 25 years of professional software engineering. In recent years, AI has moved to the center of my work – not as a replacement for engineering, but as a new layer of requirements, architecture, steering, and delivery.

Software engineering has changed

Software engineering was never just about writing code. AI has shifted the emphasis considerably. Clear requirements, architecture, model steering, verification, and professional responsibility now have an even greater impact on whether the result is a dependable system.

AI can accelerate large parts of implementation. It does not replace experience or sound scepticism. If you cannot assess the quality of a solution, even a powerful model cannot be steered reliably.

This is the intersection I work at: using modern AI where it adds value while preserving the foundations of good software engineering.
