Strategic Migration: ColdFusion to .NET
Initiation and technical leadership of migrating a monolithic ColdFusion landscape to a modern .NET ecosystem.
- C#
- .NET
- ColdFusion
- SQL Server
The Initiative
The company relied technologically on a legacy ColdFusion infrastructure that was increasingly reaching its limits: difficult maintainability, talent shortage, and performance bottlenecks. I identified the critical need for a strategic shift towards .NET to ensure the platform's future viability.
Stakeholder Management
Such a migration is a massive investment. My role was not only to prove technical feasibility but also to convince C-Level management and stakeholders. I presented analyses on long-term ROI, risk mitigation, and improved Time-to-Market through the modern tooling landscape of the Microsoft ecosystem.
Technical Contribution
To accelerate the transition and ensure "Best Practices" from Day 1, I introduced a personal, pre-built framework/library into the project. This served as the foundation (seed) for the new codebase and solved standard problems (logging, caching, DB access) in a standardized way. This drastically reduced initial development time and provided the team with a clear structure.
The Result
The successful migration laid the cornerstone for a scalable, type-safe, and high-performance enterprise architecture that continued to serve as the base for years to come.
